| Bekash Review - June 2005For personal detailed reviews of the restaurant click on the links to the left. The summary review is shown below. SummaryWe last visited Bekash in 2003 when it scored a very healthy 22. Bekash has a good local reputation and is often the curry house of choice for many in the MK area. On a personal note the last time I visited a few months previously I was very disappointed. I was therefore prepared to be under whelmed. A group of 14 of us met at the Plough, the pub of choice recently for Stony venues. A swift drink at the Cock, then onto Bekash at 8.30. Views from the group varied, some had excellent meals while others seemed to pick duds. Overall starters did not typically impress with particular distress noted for those that had prawn puree. The 2003 also picked up on the prawn puree so this has clearly not improved. Music really needs sorting. If you don't want to play traditional music play something more contemporary than "The Shadows". Awful! Highlight for a couple of us was the lamb methi. Very very tender lamb. Also noted as a good dish the last time around. The staff made an effort and even allowed Scott to film the chef making a couple of dishes. This helped push up the service score. Now we have to turn to value for money. We negotiated a 10% discount in advance of arriving and that clearly helped the final score. The common curry costs also place this in the lower third so value is also reasonable. Bekash scored 20 this time which is a little lower than before. However, 20 is the threshold at which MKCC issue one of our coveted "Certificates of Excellence". Well done Bekash, a certificate of excellence will be in the post shortly.
