| Cafe Ganges Review - October 2004[Visit the Information Page for this Restaurant] For personal detailed reviews of the restaurant click on the links to the left (if they exist). The summary review is shown below. SummaryThe final reckoning is shown in the table below. Overall we rate Cafe Ganges a very respectable 22.0 Taj Mahals. A full three points higher than the last time we visited two years ago. One of the notable problems we suffered from in 2002 was poor service. Something certainly improved based on our experiences this time around. The waiters were polite, prompt and responded quickly to our requests. The restaurant web site mentions a change in management about 18 months ago so perhaps this has focused minds. It was surprisingly quiet on the Friday night we visited but I think this was more to do with the School Half Term rather than the lack of popularity. Overall the food was good. Usually at least one or two members report some level of dissatisfaction but I do not think anyone had any significant complaints this time. A few of us noted the unusual sweetness in a couple of dishes which included the sag paneer and my lamb madras. Nothing too severe but we did wonder whether this was a conscious decision on the part of the Chef. Perhaps the real clincher for Cafe Ganges is the cost. We noted this when first perusing the menu and certainly when you see the figures for the common it really is quite significant. Cafe Ganges is the cheapest recorded common curry meal.
