| Jalori Review - May 2004[Visit the Information Page for this Restaurant] For personal detailed reviews of the restaurant click on the links to the left. The summary review is shown below. SummaryThis was our very first visit to Woburn Sands and I have to say we have some good things to report. Firstly the Swan PH is certainly a nice place to convene prior to the restaurant. Plenty of space and even some comfy sofas to lounge upon, although of course the curry club loitered near the bar for the hour or so that we stayed for. We arrived 15 mins early at the Jalori and were immediately seated in a far corner of the restaurant, all 11 of us at a large table. A private spot, perhaps reserved for VIP guests? Jalori is more up market than some others in MK. Certainly one you would be happy to take a wife/partner out to. Interestingly this is not reflected in the price. The Common Curry basket of goods places it somewhere in the middle range for price. Quite surprising really as I expected it to charge a premium for being the only curry house in Woburn Sands. If you scan your eyes through the table below you'll note a very consistent score throughout all the categories. This clearly shows the mark of a good restaurant, one which understands the needs and expectations of it's customers. Highlights from my perspective were both the overall quality of the food and attentive and humorous service. The lamb in particular was particularly tender in all the different 5 or so dishes that our group had. In my opinion a lamb dish is always a good indicator of quality and care as it can vary so much from restaurant to restaurant (we discovered Jalori buy a whole lamb which they then cut up and prepare for the dishes) A couple of minor low lights were the unusually sweet couple of vegetable dishes, including Sag Paneer & Tindora. The nan breads were a bit stodgy too. Not us light as they could be, perhaps slightly undercooked? However, apart from that the food was very good. Oh yes, our 2 kitchen inspectors had a 15 min chat in the
kitchen with the chef and manager at the end of our meal. Their view: So the overall verdict is that Woburn Sands residents have a 1st rate restaurant on their doorstep. I shall be taking my wife there the next time we have the opportunity to go out one evening. Well done Jalori, a Certificate of Excellence will be in the post this week!
