| Purple Mango Review - October 2005[Visit the Information Page for this Restaurant] The summary review is shown below. SummaryAlthough officially the October visit this actually slipped to November 11th. This was due to half term and fireworks night. Rather than carry on with reduced numbers we rescheduled and managed a healthy turnout of 12. Bit of an odd location this one and this was reflected in the Location score. In the corner of one of the small commercial centres. We congregated in the Tawny Owl pub opposite which was conveniently located and quite adequate for pre curry drinkies. Not a pub I think I would search out under normal circumstances though. Inside the Purple Mango is very different from your usual curry house and this is to be commended. A modern split level design, vibrant purple with stylish furniture and lots of unusual details. Even the cutlery is quite different. The Purple Mango scored highly on ambience; our members felt this was one of the real strong points. A very civilised setting. Largely the food was good. A number of the members had visited before and all had positive things to say about the food. Ian received a plated lamb dish and found the lamb to be very tough. Those of us who had other lamb dishes had no complaints though. Maybe a one off. Otherwise scores & comments show food was largely reasonable to good. Very good poppodoms and a fantastic selection of dips. Try the chili lime pickle - it puts hair on your chest! Starters fine as were most of the mains and side dishes. Good selection of bottled beers Cobra, Kingfisher & Bangla (the Trinity) VFM also reasonable. The common curry costs place PM in the bottom half of costs in Milton Keynes so it not the cheapest but it won't break the bank. The final score was an agreeable 20.5. This means a Certificate of Excellence will be heading its way to the Purple Mango. Well done!
