The Silk Road - January 2007

[Visit the Information Page for this Restaurant]

The summary review is shown below.

Summary

So here we are at the Silk Road.  Our very first visit under new ownership, although a familiar venue to us all as we've previously visited when the restaurant was known as Maharajas.

Well first comment has to be the score which is a highly commendable 21.5.  Maharajas scored 18.0 at our last visit so a score of 21.5 for the revamped Silk Road is very promising.

I have to say I expressed some concern beforehand over the whole Silk Road concept; Indian, Thai and Chinese cuisine under one roof.  I just know what Gordon Ramsey would say although in this case it seems to work quite well.

Food generally good with a couple of members reckoning they picked a poor menu choice.  One problem immediately arises with the menu is with the limited choice for us die hard curry fans.  We almost threatened Doug with expulsion from the MKCC when we saw him drinking Singha beer so just imagine the riot that could have ensued if any members had eaten anything but curry.

BUT perhaps the Silk Road does provide something for couples where one loves curry, the other Chinese?  Location and venue are fine so go and give them a try!
